To become a true craftsman, says Stan Ceglinsi, a man must live in wood, listen to it, learn it, love it and understand it.

Woodcraft is a passion for Stan, who is based in the beautifully forested area of Billinudgel, on the North Coast of NSW.

After 30 years of practicing his craft Stan has seen many changes in technology, but he remains dedicated to the traditional craft of woodworking, preferring traditional joinery methods over cheap glues and screws.

Through his own deep appreciation of his craft, Stan is keeping alive the old traditions like shingle cutting, bark hut building, furniture making, split post fencing, broad axeing and cross cut sawing.

And, fortunately for mellimoomoo, Stan has also turned his hand to creating heirloom-quality children’s toys, musical instruments and furniture.

All of the timber Stan uses is ethically salvaged and processed – including rare native Australian hardwood species – and each piece he creates is unique.

Stan can tell you the origins of each and every piece he creates – right down to the exact location of the tree a piece originated from.

Stan prefers to leave each piece in its natural state, allowing the beauty of the timber to be appreciated.

If colours are used on the toys, they are always safe, natural dyes.
